LIVONIA (WWJ) - The Livonia Fire and Rescue Department has been awarded a federal grant for operations and safety purposes.
U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin on Friday announced the $277,120 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
The funds will be used to help address specific equipment, training, staffing and other EMS related needs.
Senator Stabenow called the department’s services “invaluable,” saying they deserve the best training and equipment to perform their duties safely.
Senator Levin agreed, saying the grant helps the state meet their responsibility to emergency first-responders.
