Honda Announces Big SUV Recall

TORRANCE, CA -- (WWJ) Honda is recalling 554,000 older SUV's because of a potential headlight problem.

"There is a potential failure with the wiring of the headlight switch which may cause the low beam headlights to become inoperative." read a statement from American Honda. "The loss of the low beam headlights may increase the risk of a crash."

Honda says it has no reports of real world crashes.

The recall affects Honda Pilots from the 2003 model years, and 2002 – 2004 model year CR-V small sport utilities.

Honda says it will start sending notices to customers in late April.

"Honda is announcing this recall to encourage owners of all affected vehicles to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda," continued the company statement.

Owners can get more information from www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (800) 999-1009, and selecting option 4.
