Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Several major roads and freeways in Metro Detroit will have lane closures this weekend.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-696:

In Macomb County, the left lane of I-696 will be closed at M-53 (Van Dyke Ave) for barrier wall work during the following times:

  • Friday, March 31 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
  • Monday, April 2 – Wednesday, April 4, daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

I-94:

In Wayne County, the eastbound I-94 exit ramp to northbound M-39 (Southfield Freeway) will be closed from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing interchange work. A detour will be posted.

I-96:

In Oakland County, eastbound and westbound I-96 will be reduced to a single lane between Milford and Kent Lake roads from 7 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge work.

In addition, northbound and southbound Milford Road under I-96 will be closed for bridge demolition from 5 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday. Detours will be posted for each direction.

I-75:

In Wayne County, the right lane of northbound and southbound I-75 is closed at Dix-Toledo Road for bridge work. The right lanes will remain closed until November as crews work this summer to construct a new overpass and rebuild one mile of I-75 between King and Sibley roads.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway):

In Wayne County, the ramp from northbound M-39 to Van Born Road is closed from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for bridge work.

M-150 (Rochester Road):

In Oakland County, the right lane of northbound and southbound M-150 will be closed between 2nd Street and University Drive starting at 9 a.m. Monday until May 11 for long-term construction. On street parking will be prohibited during this time.

US-24 (Telegraph Road):

In Wayne County, as part of the ongoing reconstruction of Telegraph Road, between Vreeland and West roads, Matilda Street is closed at Telegraph until April 6 for work on the Silver Creek bridge. The posted detour uses Vreeland and Arsenal roads.
