Flights To Dallas-Fort Worth Cancelled From Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - The twisters that have ripped through parts of the Dallas-Fort Worth area have created an unintended traffic jam at Detroit Metro Airport.

There were two flights that were supposed to leave Detroit Metro Airport for Dallas...but American Airlines spokesman Ed Martelle says they will not be leaving Tuesday evening.

Martelle says they have 234 flights grounded in Dallas-Fort worth and another 37 flights diverted.  He says until all those planes are inspected for hail damage they can't take in flights at Metro Airport because there's just no room.

Martelle says there will be no flights in until they can move some of those planes.

He recommends passengers keep in touch with the airlines to rescheduled. He says if you can't make the new time ... you can get your money back.

"They will be notified by the airline of the reaccommadation - we'll do our best to get people where they want to go as quickly as we can, if that is not possible, we will refund their tickets," said Martelle.
