UM Students To Unveil 'What My Startup Did Last Semester': The TechArb spring showcase, one of the largest entrepreneurial events of the year on the University of Michigan's campus, will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 13. More than 50 student-founded startups will pitch their ideas to potential investors and report on the their progress. The 23 companies that shared space in the accelerator this session will give a one-slide update. Companies that participated in other entrepreneurial classes and competitions at UM this year will present posters and demonstrate products. The event is free and open to the public. Companies in TechArb range from the Beet Box, a healthy fast food cart, to DIIME, developing a more sanitary method of blood banking for developing countries, to Fetchnotes, a note taking system for Web and Cell phones, to Brio Device, a breathing tube for emergency medicine, to Torcy Hybrid Marine, a hybrid boat designer. Refresh Detroit To Meet At The M@dison: Refresh Detroit will meet on "From Documents To Apps: Evolving An Open Web" on Thursday, April 19 from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. at the M@dison Building, 1555 Broadway St. Detroit. The event is free, but registration is required. Speaker Molly Holzschlag will discuss the entire state of Web development and design and show the Open Web Technology Stack visually from back end to front end.
