Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Lane closures will be in place on several Metro Detroit roadways this weekend, and many more projects are expected to begin early next week.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-696:

In Macomb County, the left lane of westbound I-696 will be closed at M-53 (Van Dyke Ave) from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday for barrier wall work.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway):

In Wayne County, the left lane of southbound M-39 is closed from Fern Street to I-94 for ongoing bridge work at the M-39/I-94 interchange. The left lane closure is expected to remain in place until early May. During overnight hours, starting at 9 p.m. and ending by 6 a.m. the following morning, the left and center lanes will be closed.

In Wayne County, the left and center lanes of southbound M-39 will be closed from Fern to I-94 continuously from 9 p.m. Friday until 7 p.m. Saturday. After 7 p.m. Saturday it goes back to a single left lane closure.

In Wayne County, the left two lanes of northbound M-39 will be closed from Allen to Van Born roads from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday.

I-75:

In Wayne County, the right lane of northbound and southbound I-75 is closed at Dix-Toledo Road for bridge work. The right lanes will remain closed until November as crews work this summer to construct a new overpass and rebuild one mile of I-75 between King and Sibley roads.

Beginning the week of Monday, April 9

M-39:

In Wayne County, the left lane of northbound M-39 will be closed from Allen to Van Born roads from 5 a.m. Monday until late April for ongoing interchange work.

I-94:

In Wayne County, the Pelham Road entrance ramp to westbound I-94 will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. Monday until early May for reconstruction. In addition, the right lane of southbound Pelham Road will be closed at I-94 during the same time frame.

I-275:

In Wayne County, the left lane of northbound and southbound I-275 will be closed under I-94 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily starting Monday and ending Friday, April 13 for barrier wall placement.

M-150 (Rochester Road):

In Oakland County, the current right lane closure on northbound M-150 will be extended from Avon Roadto University Drivestarting at 9 a.m. Monday and ending at 3 p.m. Friday April 13. After 3 p.m. Friday, the right lane closure will be shortened to from 2nd Street to University Drive until May 11.

M-59:

In Oakland County, the right shoulder of westbound M-59 will be closed from Crooks to Adams roads for sign installation beginning at 9 a.m. Monday and ending in late May.
