Lumerica Corporation Acquires LumaSmart's LED Lighting Business

MADISON HEIGHTS -- Madison Heights-bsaed Lumerica Corp. said Tuesday that it had acquired the LED lighting business of Macomb Township-based LumaSmart Technology International.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Three employees have moved from LumaSmart to Lumerica, which currently employs eight people.

LumaSmart's environmentally friendly lighting fixtures which are designed to consume less energy, provide a higher quality of light and last longer than competitive products. LumaSmart has primarily focused on the automotive, commercial, defense, industrial and transportation markets.

LumaSmart employs 15 and will continue to manufacture LED light engines for commercial clients. LumaSmart has had considerable growth since the company launched and anticipates that growth in the contract manufacturing business to continue because of its high quality, environmentally friendly lighting products.

"The acquisition of LumaSmart's LED product line reflects the continued execution of our plan to be a leading provider of LED lighting solutions to commercial and industrial customers," said Justin Palm, president of Lumerica. "The LumaSmart LED product line acquisition brings us a proven line of high quality, cost-effective lighting products for a wide-range of applications which complements our current product line. It also provides the opportunity to offer our customers more quality products made in the U.S.A."

The two companies said LumaSmart will remain a key supplier to Lumerica.
