Couple Sentenced In Drive-By Shooting That Injured Baby
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ/AP) - An Inkster couple have been sentenced in the wounding of a 10-month-old Macomb County boy.
A judge on Tuesday sentenced Kevin Smith 18 to 30 years in prison, while giving Latasha Hudson 13 to 20 years.
A Macomb County Circuit Court Jury found them guilty last month of attempted murder and assault with intent to do great bodily harm in the Aug. 20 revenge shooting into the Roseville home of Smith's ex-girlfriend, Angela Rankin.
At the time of the shooting, Rankin was holding her baby, who sustained a grazing wound to his forehead. Investigators say Smith was reportedly angry over a paternity test that showed he was father of a 2 1/2-year-old girl who lived with Rankin.
Smith has said he only intended to shoot out a television. Prosecutors said Hudson drove the getaway car.
