For those who weren’t there Sunday for the Red Wings first home playoff game of the year, the Joe Louis Arena delivered one of the great pre-game atmospheres in the league.

The Joe is not the most modern building, but I’ve always liked it because it has a soul. It’s a place in which Detroit fans have celebrated championships and suffered through heartbreak. New buildings can hit you with laser-shows and booming sound systems and modern amenities oozing from every chair-rest. But what the Joe can provide with caring from the organization and a fan base that cares more than all the rest gets it national attention … as proven by the link below.
