Pontiac Teen Stabs Boy In Back On Playground

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Police say a Pontiac teen was sent to a juvenile detention center after stabbing a 9-year-old in the back.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Department said the incident happened around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at a playground on Alton Ave., near Jefferson Middle School in Pontiac.

Investigators say the incident initially started out as a scuffle involving several juveniles, and escalated when a 14-year-old went into his house and grabbed a kitchen knife.

The teen -- who was described as mentally challenged -- then came back outside and stabbed the younger boy in the upper right side of his back, according to police. He was taken into custody and was later transported and lodged at Oakland County Children's Village.

The 9-year-old was taken to his house on Franklin Road, where his mother contacted EMS to treat the boy for a minor stab wound. He's expected to be fine.

Police say it is unclear at this time what, if any, charges the teen may face.
