Stand 4 Change Anti-Bullying Event On May 4th

Enough is enough and Big Brother 10 winner Dan Gheesling stopped by our studio to help get the word out. Now is the time to stand up against bullying. Join us on Stand 4 Change Day and be a part of this historic rallying point for the anti-bullying movement.

Imagine millions of students and teachers across North America “Stand 4 Change” to demonstrate their commitment to putting an end to bullying. On May 4, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. EST, that image will become a reality as we all stop, stand and let the world know that we will no longer tolerate bullying in our schools and our communities. Your participation in this continent-wide community action will show people across the globe that it is not only okay to stand up to bullying, it is the right thing to do. Together, we can improve the lives of millions of young people, and help to save lives in the process.

Stand4Change is an international event that has been put together by the local anti-bullying organization Defeat The Label.  CBS Detroit are working closing with them and their founder Jeff Sakwa.

In the state of Michigan…the Senate passed a bill making May 4th an official day and the National Educational Association has helped take this international…this means that 170 countries and 30 million teachers are encouraged to participate.   Defeat The Label themselves have signed up more than 500,000 students online to participate from the United States and around the world!

Currently the following educational organizations are on board and are actively promoting May 4th:

National Educational Association (NEA)
Anti Defamation League (ADL)
American Association of School Administrators (AASA)
American Federation of Teachers    (AFT)

On May 4, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. EST, turn to the person next to you, give them a compliment and take a stand against bullying with us.
