Local Girls In Need Can Get A Prom Dress For Free

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - High school girls shouldn't have to worry about missing their prom because they can't afford a dress.

With prom spending up 33 percent this year, Hope Closet is providing less fortunate high school girls with a chance to get a free prom dress.

From April 21 through 28, young women can make an appointment to pick out a dress of their choice, regardless of financial constraints or limitations, from a selection of over 5,000 gowns.

Students must be currently enrolled in a high school and pick up the dress in person. Each student must present a valid school ID card or other proof of current enrollment.

Students will be allowed to receive one free dress and one accessory. Hope Closet does not guarantee that everyone will receive a dress and each student may only obtain one dress -- no exchanges.

Phone lines are open for appointments from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 248-347-1309.

After an appointment is made, girls can pick out their dress from the boutique located at Royal Oak First United Methodist Church, 320 West 7th Street in Royal Oak.
