Coffee And A Comic To Go For One Barista In Royal Oak

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Hate waiting for that specialty coffee?

One barista is making that wait more palatable and has a  growing following in Royal Oak.

WWJ's Sandra McNeill reports on the woman who's cartoons are taking Starbucks customers by storm.

Julianna Frost says she just wanted to make people smile. So she started drawing a cartoon on normal letter paper. The cartoon she says is all about her life.

"You know just everyday little things that we all kind of get into: 'Oh my gosh the dishes are piled high and they collapsed on me,' things like that," Frost said.

And then there's her crazy cat Suki.

"My cat steals quarters," said Frost. "I don't know why specifically quarters but if there is a pile of change left out she will actually sort through it and pull out the quarters and leave it in the bathtub."

WWJ's Sandra McNeill caught up with customer Nathan Keelan checking out the cartoon.

"I like it," he said. "It's a good thing to read while I'm waiting for the coffee."

"The comic strip has gone old-fashioned but I like to try to keep that alive, I think that is an art form that should be preserved," added Frost.

In an age of i-Pads and smartphones Frost hopes this is an art form that never goes away.
