Police: Impaired Drivers Crash Into Each Other

SUMMIT TWP. (WWJ) - Police in Jackson say two motorists, who were each driving while impaired, lost control of their vehicles and crashed into each other on Thursday.

Jackson County Sheriff Steve Rand said the accident happened near Park and Duguid roads in Summit Township around 3:55 p.m.

Investigators say a 37-year-old female from Jackson was travelling northwest on Park Road when she crossed the centerline and struck a southeast bound vehicle. The southeast bound vehicle was driven by a 65-year-old Summit Township man.

Deputies suspected the man to be operating while impaired and under the influence of alcohol. Deputies also suspected the female of operating while impaired, under the influence of drugs.

Both drivers were taken by Jackson Community Ambulance to Allegiance Health Systems for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Rand said blood samples were taken from both drivers and charges will be requested on both individuals for impaired driving.
