Detroit Zoo Offering Free Day For Seniors

DETROIT (WWJ) - Senior Citizens living in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties will get the opportunity for free admission to the Detroit Zoo during Senior Day April 25th.

The day's events will include animal enrichment activities and zookeeper talks highlighting some of the Zoo's senior animal residents. Senior Day will also feature live music, tractor train tours, bingo and a senior resource area.

Seniors 62 and older and a caregiver will be eligible to receive the complimentary admission along with parking. The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and is one of two free days for tri-county seniors held annually at the Detroit Zoo.

The events are held in appreciation for the voter approval in August 2008 that kept the Zoo from shutting down. The fall senior day will take place September 5th, 2012.
