ZocDoc Offers Online Appointments With Detroit Doctors And Medical Providers

DETROIT -- ZocDoc arrived in southeast Michigan Friday with the mission of improving access to medical care for local residents.

New York City-based ZocDoc, a free service for patients, is a one-stop resource for researching doctors and making appointments instantly online.

At, launch, the service offers appointments with participating primary care doctors, obstetrician-gynecologists and dermatologists throughout the Detroit area.

To use the service, patients visit www.zocdoc.com or use one of the free ZocDoc apps to enter their location, insurance plan, and the type of health care provider they would like to see. ZocDoc then shows each doctor's schedule in realtime, along with credentials and patient reviews, to help patients choose the practitioner who best fits their needs. Patients simply select a timeslot and complete a brief checkout process to book an appointment. ZocDoc then sends email and text message reminders to help patients remember to attend their doctor visits.

ZocDoc also offers free mobile applications allowing patients to find doctors and make appointments while away from the computer.

"It takes Detroit area residents 12 days on average to get in to see a doctor, and at ZocDoc, we think that's unacceptable," said Massoumi. "We're committed to bringing better access to doctors to the region because it shouldn't be so difficult to manage your health."
