Attendance Sagging, But Moves Up Charts
The Pistons' improvement in the last 2 1/2 months and a parade of musical acts at halftime, have lifted them from the attendance cellar. After ranking last in attendance a majority of the season, the Pistons have moved ahead of Indiana (14,058 entering Monday) and New Jersey (13,812) in that category at 14,383. That's still their lowest average since they moved into the 22,076-seat Palace of Auburn Hills during the 1988-89 season. Their lowest previous average attendance at The Palace was 14,813 during the 2000-01 season. Their average home attendance last season was 16,660.
