Alburquerque Is Moved To 60-Day DL
--RHP Al Alburquerque was placed on the 60-day disabled list Tuesday, opening a spot on the Tigers' 40-man roster for a possible future player addition Alburquerque had offseason surgery to insert a screw at the tip of his right elbow to stabilize a non-displaced bone fracture. Alburquerque has resumed throwing, and he could be able to return to active duty around the All-Star break.
--C Alex Avila hasn't been the consistently hot hitter he was a year ago, but Tuesday night he hit a big two-run home run. The blast into the ivy beyond the center field fence brought the Tigers to within a run of the Mariners at 4-3. He had a chance to tie the score with a hit in the eighth, as Detroit had runners at second and third, but he struck out on a 95 mph fastball.
