Remember when the Tigers signed Prince Fielder and your friends joked that the price of a $5 pizza was going to go up? Well, that hasn’t happened — yet.
The website http://www.thestreet.com reported early Thursday that the Detroit Tigers’ Comerica Park serves the most expensive beer in all of Major League Baseball, at $8.75 for a small draft beer.
They later issued a correction, after the team said the smallest beer, at 16 ounces, sells for $6.75, while the large beer, at 24 ounces, sells for $8.50.
Even if the Tigers aren’t breaking the beer bank, the report found the league’s average price for a small beer rose from $5.81 last year to $6.16 this year. It says at this time last year, the highest price for a small beer was $7.25 the Boston Red Sox were charging at Fenway Park.
The second most expensive beer in the league, $8, is served at Marlins Park in Miami.
