Teen Hit By Car On Eight Mile Road

DETROIT (WWJ) - A high school walking to class Friday morning was hit by a car while trying to cross Eight Mile Road.

Southfield police said the 10th grader was walking with a group of students who were trying to cross the road near Evergreen. The driver of the car that had just turned onto Eight Mile at Evergreen when she struck the girl.

Police said the driver stopped at the scene and told officers the students "just darted out" in front of her.

The girl had lower body injuries and was reported in stable condition late Friday morning.

Her name has not been released.

An investigation is ongoing.
