The Week In Geek For 4-27-12

By: Theron Dahlerup

The Avengers rule them all

Pre-sale tickets for The Avengers have already out sold more tickets in pre-sale than all the other Marvel movies combined. I know we are still a week out from The Avengers but I cannot contain my full on geek-gasm. Last weekend my wife and I pulled a Marvel movie marathon. I highly recommend doing this for anyone who is going to see the film so you may get your uber –geek on. I watched them in Marvel world chronological order, not in release date order. So I went like this… 1st Captain America, 2nd Iron Man. 3rd Thor and 4th Iron Man 2. I didn't watch the Hulk movies because I didn't feel like they were Avengers prep films, plus I wasn't a huge fan of either of them.

Check out all of The Avengers trailers, TV spots and interviews HERE.

P.S. - While we are on the topic of The Avengers, Director Joss Whedon has dropped in some of Whedon-verse's favorite characters into cameos. Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Alexis Denisof, who played Wesley, will play a character called "The Other". Dollhouse star Enver Gjokaj will also be playing a young agent in the film presumably with S.H.I.E.L.D.

P.S.S – Don't forget that the trailer of "The Dark Knight Rises" will premiere before The Avengers. So get to your seats early!

No more Shia Lebeouf

Thank god super DB Shia Lebeouf will no longer ruin my childhood. Lebeouf's character from Transformer's will not be returning for the 4th installment of the franchise. Paramount also convinced Michael Bay to come back for the 4th movie. I liked the Transformers' films, but I didn't love them. The cartoon movie was a million times better than any of these live action ones. I will say I am still waiting for some studio to get their head out of their asses and do a live action Voltron Movie... I miss that cartoon!

More details about Lebrouf's departure HERE.

Science is fun!

I saw this video yesterday I thought it was pretty funny and really, really dangerous. Who doesn't want to try and launch 55 gallon drums into the stratosphere? Umm, after watching this video… ME!
