Police: Teen Killed In Stolen Car Crash

WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ) – A Pontiac teen was killed and a woman injured in an accident Sunday night at the intersection of Highland Road and Pontiac Lake Road.

According to police, the 16-year-old boy was driving a stolen Pontiac G6 when he blew through a red light at the corner of Highland and Pontiac Lake Roads. Police said he clipped a 2000 Buick entering the intersection, lost control and slammed into a brick wall.

The Buick was driven by a 45-year-old Waterford woman.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital where the teen was pronounced dead. Police said the woman had non-life threatening injuries. She was listed in stable condition late Monday morning.

Police said the G6 was reported as stolen out of Orion Township nearly two weeks ago.

Police believe alcohol did not play a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

No names have been released.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or who has any information is asked to contact Waterford Township Police  at 248-618-6073 or  248-618-6086..
