Does Slows Have Best Sandwich In The Country?

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Picture this: A pulled smoked Amish chicken breast soaked in mustard sauce, tossed with sauteed mushrooms and cheddar and topped with crispy applewood bacon. Smother it between two thick slices of Texas Toast or a poppy seed kaiser roll.

Now you've got the Yardbird sandwich from Detroit's own Slow's Bar BQ. And here's the question -- How does it stack up against the best sandwiches in the country?

The Travel Channel is asking that as part of a new show titled "Adam Richman's Best Sandwiches in America" show.  Richman is touring the country tasting sandwiches until he decides which one is tops in the land.

And the Yardbird in among the contenders. It'll be considered at 9 p.m. Wednesday during the "Great Lakes" episode; if it wins, it'll move from the regional competition to the national level.

The Yardbird has to stack up against notables including the savory club sandwich from the W Hotel in Washington, D.C., a crab cake sandwich from Baltimore, a chicken cheddar biscuit from North Carolina, and a corned beef and pastrami from the famous Katz's Deli in New York City. In all, 30 sandwiches will compete.

Richman will evaluate them all on his own BITE scale, which includes points for Bread, Interior, Taste, and Eating experience.

So, will Slow's take home the prize?
