FERNDALE (WWJ) - Two young women from Harper Woods are jailed after leading police on a high-speed chase through several Ferndale neighborhoods.
Police say 17-year-old Erica Allen was driving down 8 Mile Road in a stolen car without any lights on just before 3 a.m. Wednesday when police attempted to pull her over.
Officers say Allen initially pulled over, but suddenly fled at high speeds through Ferndale neighborhoods. Police say Allen drove the wrong way down a one way street, sped through residential streets, drove through a residential yard and drove into a park.
After a three-minute high-speed chase, Allen and another female — later identified as 19-year-old Briana Jones – bailed out of the car in Geary Park and began to run on foot. They were caught and arrested.
Police say the car was stolen in Warren on Monday.
The matter is being turned over to the prosecutor’s officer for review. Police say the women, neither of whom have a criminal history, will probably be arraigned by the end of the day.
