Jimmy Buffett To Bring Biggest Show Ever To Detroit

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) What's better than a laid-back Jimmy Buffett show in the heat of summer? A full-day Buffett experience.

And that's what Parrotheads will get when Buffett performs what is reportedly his biggest show ever  in Detroit, at 7 p.m. July 28. After years of playing the DTE Energy Music Theatre, Buffett will play Comerica Park for the first time.

It also marks the first time the king of Caribbean style has played within Detroit city limits.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12 at Tickets.com and can also be purchased at the Comerica Park Box Office. To charge tickets by phone, call 866-66-TIGER.

The big day will start at 8 a.m. July 28 with a free downtown Buffett Beach Party on the grounds surrounding Comerica Park. It will feature a LandShark Lounge, margarita tasting, hula hooping, a variety of midway games, live entertainment and much, much more.

"In our commitment to providing quality entertainment, we're elated to host Jimmy Buffett in what's sure to be the must-see summer concert of the year," said Tom Wilson, president and chief executive officer of Olympia Entertainment, in a press release. "From the free 'Beach Party' to the time Buffett takes the stage, there's something for everyone in what promises to be an unforgettable event. "

The tour supports Buffett's new live CD/DVD, scheduled to be released this summer. It was recorded in Las Vegas last October. The first digital album release "Volcano – Live 2011," is now available for download through iTunes, and contains new live versions of the songs from the classic album.

For additional information about the show, call Olympia Entertainment at 313-471-6611.
