Update: 37-Year-Old Killed In Crash That Closed Mound Road

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) A 37-year-old man was killed and a teen-ager injured in a 3:36 a.m. Saturday collision on Mound Road at Metro Parkway in Macomb County. The crash was caused by one of them failing to stop at a red light, police said.

Mound northbound was shut down at Metro Parkway for at least three hours while police conducted an investigation.

The Cadillac was driven by a 16-year-old, police said. The driver was traveling northbound on Mound when his car collided with the Pontiac going westbound on Metro Parkway. Both vehicles had only one occupant.

"One of the  vehicles disregarded the red traffic signal resulting in the collision," police said in a press release, adding that alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the fatal crash.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Sterling Heights Police Department at 586-446-2920.
