The Wiggles Wriggle Way Back To Detroit For 1st Time In 5 Years

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) The Wiggles, those wriggly wittle wascals, are coming back to Detroit for the first time in five year with founder and lead vocalist Greg Page.

And parents can be proud to buy tickets because a portion of the proceeds from their concert will go to the charity Reach Out And Read, which prepares America's youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to "prescribe" books and encourage families to read together. Reach Out and Read serves more than 4 million children and their families annually at 4,946 pediatric practices, hospitals, clinics and health centers in all 50 states.

On a fun note, The Wiggles summer 2012 tour will reunite Anthony, Jeff and Murray with Yellow Wiggle Greg Page -- the original four Aussie castmates. They'll perform two shows at The Palace in Auburn Hills, at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, May 11 at 10 a.m. at Palacenet.com, The Palace Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations, including The Palace Locker Room Store at Great Lakes Crossing. Prices are $40 for the "hot potato"  best seats in the house, $25 reserved and $15 general admission. Special VIP seating is also available.

Tickets may be also charged by phone to American Express, Discover, Visa and MasterCard by calling 1‑800‑745‑3000.

Special group discounts are also available by calling the Group Sales office at 248-371-2055.

Fans are encouraged to "Follow the Leader" and dance the "Hot Potato" with The Wiggles, Captain Feathersword, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Henry the Octopus, Wags the Dog and all the Wiggly Dancers when they are "Getting Strong."

The Wiggles are strong advocates for a healthy lifestyle and will bring a positive message about the importance of fitness and exercise for all ages to The Palace.

Come and wiggle in the aisles for "Getting Strong – The Wiggles! Live in Concert." Audience participation features include:

  • Start the fun at home by creating a giant wiggly sign.
  • Having fun with your favorite wiggly pal as they sing and dance through the audience.
  • Dress up as your favorite character.
  • Yelling "Wake up, Jeff!" whenever the loveable Purple Wiggle falls asleep onstage.
