Jack Martin Named Detroit's New CFO

DETROIT (WWJ) - The city of Detroit has a new Chief Financial Officer under the financial stability agreement with the state.

Mayor Dave Bing on Thursday announced the appointment of Jack Martin, the former emergency manager in the Highland Park School District, as his new CFO.

"He earned his BS and MBA degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit and is a Marine Corps veteran, so I know he's well prepared to fight from the trenches with us for this city," Bing said."I've known and respected Jack for many years and I look forward to having him as part of my team."

Bing said Martin's appointment was approved by State Treasurer Andy Dillon.

Martin is expected to join the Bing administration next week. His salary will be $220,000 annually.
