NOVI (WWJ) – While some moms were dining out at Kona Grill, others spent Mother’s day in a place some may call unusual … Hooters!

Hooters held their annual free wings for mom event and many came out for the festive feast at the Novi location; including 8-year-old Bryan Zavala from Livonia.

This was his first time eating at Hooter’s, but Bryan tells WWJ’s Kathryn Larson – he has yet to make mom a present:

“Make paper flowers,” said Bryan, adding that the flowers are not hard to make.

And he says he’ll color the paper flowers red – to show his love for mom.

Meantime, mom was celebrating the day with what appeared to be a pink strawberry daiquiri.

Sisters Tara Wade from Dearborn and Kimekio Keeling from Farmington Hills.

“This is our tradition, so this is … our third year coming to Hooters,” said Wade.
