Ex-Fraser Teacher Arrested On Child Porn Charges

FRASER (WWJ) - A former teacher in the Fraser School District has been charged in a child pornography case.

Gregory Austin, 32, was a band instructor in the district in 2005 and became a classroom teacher in 2006.

Austin was arrested during a drug transaction in March when Roseville police allegedly discovered a number of images of child pornography on his phone.

According to prosecutors, detectives also found inappropriate non-pornographic images of suspected minors, both male and female, as well as text messages that were sexual in nature that appeared to involve minors, and two pornographic videos, one featuring a minor.

Prosecutors say an investigation revealed 12 people seen in images on Austin's phone were underage students currently enrolled within the Fraser School District.

Austin left his teaching job following his arrest in March.

The FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office are looking for anyone tho knows anything related to Austin and his communications and contacts with minors. Anyone with information is asked to contact the FBI at 313-965-2323.
