Memorial Services This Week For Livonia Teen

LIVONIA (WWJ) - Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday for a Central Michigan University student from Livonia who died from what is believed to be meningitis.

Family and friends of 19-year-old Nicholas Collins will gather from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at the Harry Will Funeral Home on 6 Mile Road in Livonia. Tuesday, visitation will be held from 2 until 9 p.m.

A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday at St. Aidan Church.

Memorials may be made to the Nicholas Collins Memorial Fund, at any Bank of America Branch.

CMU officials said Collins was home for the summer when he fell ill and then died after he was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. According to doctors, more than 30 people who had contact with Collins have been advised to be treated for prevention. Several students are taking antibiotics.

Test results on which strain of meningitis Collins had are due back this week.
