CLAY TWP. (WWJ) - A boil water alert has been issued for Clay Township and Harsens Island in St. Clair County.

Clay Township officials say due to a problem with a water main, water supply to the island will possibly be intermittent throughout Thursday.

Officials from Harsens Island say the Clay Township Water Department is working on the problem, but if the water main break is more than 12 feet deep, it might not be fixed until Friday.

Residents are being asked to boil water for at least 24 hours or until notified differently.

WWJ Newsradio 950 and CBSDetroit.com will have any updated information as soon as it becomes available.
