Potential Fire Risk Leads To Acura Recall

TORRANCE, CA (WWJ) - Acura is recalling nearly 53,000 TL sedans from the 2007 and 2008 model years because of an issue with the power steering hose.

"Over time, the power steering hose may deteriorate and develop a fluid leak," read a statement from Honda/Acura. "Leaking power steering fluid could lead to loss of power steering assistance or, if it leaks onto a catalytic converter it may result in smoke, or in the worst case, fire."

The company says there have been no reports of any crashes, injuries or fires related to this issue.

Owners will be contacted by mail next month. Anybody with questions can call 800-382-2238 or go to www.recalls.acura.com.
