Suspect Sought In Attempted Child Abduction

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Authorities in Pontiac are looking for a man who allegedly tried to abduct an 11-year-old girl on Tuesday.

Oakland County Sheriff's officials say the girl was  walking north on Dwight towards Elizabeth Lake Road when she was approached by a man who was driving an older model Ford Explorer. The girl told deputies the man grabbed her arm and tried to force her into the SUV.

She was able to free herself and ran to her grandmother's house on Mark Street.

The girl, who was unharmed other than some temporary arm pain, didn't report the incident until the next day.

The suspect is described as black male, age 25-30, with thin build, 6'1'' to 6'3'' tall with short hair, gray shirt, black pants and a scraggly beard. His Ford Explorer is in poor condition.

Anyone with information should contact the Oakland County Sheriff's Department Pontiac Substation at 248-409-7100.
