Chrysler Recalls 87,000 Jeep Wranglers
AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - A fire risk is prompting Chrysler to recall nearly 87,000 Jeep Wranglers.
WWJ AutoBeat reporter Jeff Gilbert says Chrysler will send instructions to owners in the mail.
Chrysler says it knows of 14 fires but no injuries in connection with this recall.
It affects only the 2010 Jeep Wranglers with automatic transmissions. The problems happen when the vehicles are taken off-road; a plate that protects the transmission can trap debris next to the very hot catalytic converter.
Dealers will replace that plate with a bar that doesn't trap any debris.
