Flower Day At Eastern Market An Annual Winner
DETROIT (WWJ) - It's an explosion of color in Eastern Market for Sunday's annual Flower Day.
Eastern Market president Dan Carmody says it's the busiest day of the year for the market.
"We estimate that somewhere around 150,000 people will be down here today, and Saturday's throughout May and June will be probably have as many as 50,000," said Carmody. "So we probably have three times as many as normal (on Sunday)."
Carmody says you can get a lot of great deals on flowers & plants.
"Eleven acres of plants. You know, It's not a typical market day . We don't have the usual selections of food . We'll have some food on the street."
He says Russell Street is closed for the event that runs from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
