Come On Down! Detroit Contestants On 'The Price Is Right'

Detroit residents Gwendolyn Shawver and Carolyn Manus will appear on "The Price Is Right" Monday and Tuesday on the week starting May 21. Tune in to CBS 62 at 11 to watch them bid on items on contestant's row, play games and spin the big wheel. Will they make it to the showcase showdown? You'll have to watch the show to find out.

Shawver will appear on the show Monday, May 21. She traveled to California and Las Vegas in celebration of her 60th birthday. Her friends were planning a surprise party for her, she found out and told them she had other plans saying, "I'm gonna be on Price Is Right!"

On contestant's row, Shawver had the winning bid on an exercise bike and dumbbell set.

The health theme continued as Shawver played The Clock Game and won an exercise package including a home gym, and personal training worth $1,000. It was a nail-biter. The goal of The Clock Game is to guess two prizes within 30 seconds. She took 20.5 seconds to guess the first prize, and with little time to spare, she guessed the second prize in three seconds.

When asked what she planned to do with all that exercise gear, she said she already had a boflex, and plans to give it to her daughter to make room.

Shawver had a great time calling the show "an experience." And since we all want to know, when asked about the host she said, "Love Drew Carey."

Carolyn Manus will appear on Tuesday, May 22. When asked if she did anything special to get noticed by the show's staff, she didn't think so and "wasn't aware of anything."

In a bit of an understatement, she said the experience was "the highlight of my week." We want to know what else was going on that month -- for being on TV and winning prizes to have competition.

Manus was in California vacationing and visiting her son and had always wanted to get on the show if she ever got to the state. She explaining that the feeling of being on the show stuck around saying she was, "still tickled and elated."

Manus was secretive about her winnings when asked about if she took home any prizes she laughed saying, "You'll have to wait and see on the show!" She plans to keep her prizes as a keepsake from the show.

Being on "The Price Is Right" left an impression on Manus. Describing the sense of being on the show she said, "I can't put it into words. It felt like a dream -- felt like I was in a daze. All that screaming and hollering can't say anything."
