Course Inspection For 3 IndyCar Drivers Before The Grand Prix Race
DETROIT (WWJ) - Three IndyCar racers were in Detroit to meet the media and inspect the course in advance of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix in less than two weeks.
Drivers Katherine Legge, Oriol Servia and Rubens Barrichello spoke with reporters on a yacht that circled Belle Isle.
Legge said the track looks "bumpy" and says that'll make the race "interesting." Servia, who finished fourth the last time the race was here, in 2008, said it's good to see the IndyCar series back in Detroit.
Between this year's event and the last one in 2007, Belle Isle has had $6 million in improvements to the track and area in general, with better lighting, Playscapes for kids and pedestrian walkways. Race fans will enjoy cars of the IZOD IndyCar Series, the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series, the Firestone Indy Lights Series and the Pirelli World Challenge Championship Series on a 2.1 mile track.
The Grand Prix is June 1-3; find more information about the Detroit Grand Prix by clicking HERE.
