Funeral Services Set For Murdered West Bloomfield Teen

WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) - Funeral services will be held Tuesday at the Ira Kaufman Chapel in Southfield at 11 a.m. for a 17-year-old boy who was allegedly shot to death by his grandmother Friday night.

West Bloomfield Police Lieutenant Tim Diamond says evidence technicians spent the better part of Saturday trying to determine what happened inside the Maple Place Villas home.

"Certainly a tragic situation, you don't see many times where there is an incident like this involving a grandmother and a grandson," said Diamond to WWJ's Kathryn Larson.

Jonathan Hoffman was killed after suffering multiple gunshot wounds, allegedly at the hands of his grandmother.  The grandmother, whose identity still has not been released, could soon face charges.

"As you know we have domestic situations - emotions run high and bad things can happen in a hurry when people are emotional," Diamond said.

The 74-year-old grandmother has retained a lawyer and  remains in police custody.
