DETROIT (WWJ)- A ribbon cutting was held to celebrate the 15th season at The Family Aquatic Center at Chandler which will open to the public on Saturday.
A busload of students dropped off for Thursday’s event all changed into swimsuits and, on cue, ran into the wave pool.
That included 12-year-old Dana Span who said she defintaley plans to come back.
“It was fun and great at the same time,” she told WWJ Newsradio 950′s Stephanie Davis.
Each summer, nearly 40,000 people visit to enjoy splash fountains, water slides and a 325,000 gallon wave pool that produces waves up to 9 feet tall.
Admission to the park is $5 for kids and $7 for adults.
Beginning May 26, the water park is open Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.- 7:30 p.m.
