Governor Declares "State Of Disaster" In 2 Upper Peninsula Counties
LANSING (WWJ) - Governor Rick Snyder Friday night has formally declared a "state of disaster" in two Upper Peninsula counties in the wake of a fast-moving wildfire that has now consumed more than 20,000 acres.
Luce and Schoolcraft counties are in that disaster area -- while an outdoor burning ban is also in effect for 49 Michigan counties.
Some popular tourist destinations, including Tahquamenon Falls, have been evacuated as a result of the wildfires.
