Newborn Falcons Find Lofty Nest In Mt. Clemens
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - The Old Macomb County Building in downtown Mt. Clemens is home to two newborn falcons.
The baby Peregrine Falcons hatched May 1st and May 5th on a high perch at the county building.
Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel named the chick first-born Webber is named for Chesterfield Township's Wayne and Joan Webber who are known for their philanthropic efforts throughout the tri-county area.
Webber's younger brother Otis emerged from his shell four days later.
Otis is named for 94-year old Otis Hopson who, following retirement from Chrysler 20 years ago, became a fixture in the Macomb County Courthouse where he keeps the shoes of visitors and staffers, alike -- gleaming.
Friday, the new falcons were banded so they can be tracked by the Department of Natural Resources.
