Police Seek Attempted Rapist Who Posed As Utility Worker

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Southfield police are investigating a sexual assault allegedly carried out by a man posing as a utility worker.

It happened last Friday at the Providence Towers Apartments on West Nine Mile Road. A 24-year old woman told police that a man knocked on her door, claiming to be "Kevin" from Consumers Energy.

As she opened the door a little bit to speak with him, the woman said he pushed his way inside and attacked her, trying to take off her clothes. She said the man claimed to have a gun.

The assailant fled after she kicked him in the in the groin area.

The suspect is described as  18-23 year old black male, medium complexion, 5'7", very skinny, with short hair and a short beard. The suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, gray "washed" jeans and new looking white sandals.

The suspect also had a Metro PCS cell phone attached to the waist of his pants. He was seen leaving the parking lot of the complex in a dark-colored Honda Acura or Civic.
