Thank a veteran or soldier when you see one -- and note that some local businesses are showing gratitude by offering freebies and discounts today.

4. Home Depot and Lowes are offering 10 percent Military Discount on Memorial Day Weekend to all veterans who served honorably and who present a valid Form DD214 or other proof of service.
5. Jo-Ann Fabrics is offering 20 percent off regular, sale-priced and clearance items to past or present members of the armed forces, as well as their families.
6. CVS is offering ExtraCare members free $10 gas cards when spending $30 on everyday essentials advertised in the circular during select weeks this May through August. Once ExtraCare customers reach the $30 required purchase threshold, a special coupon will print on their receipt that can be redeemed immediately in store for a $10 gas card.
