Reminder: 'Click It Or Ticket' Through June 3

SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) - As you travel around Metro Detroit for Memorial Day activities or head home from a holiday getaway -- just a reminder that local police will have special patrols out to catch those not wearing seat belts.

Shelby Township police will be out near Mound Road and M-59 early Monday afternoon, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Detroit Police will also be out beginning at around 4 p.m. at Warren and Evergreen.

Drunk Driving patrols also are planned for Macomb County. Michigan State Police troopers will be patrolling near the I-94 and I-696 interchange.

According to the State Office of Highway Safety Planning, 200 people who weren't wearing their seat belts were killed in Michigan last year.

A seat belt citation will cost $65. This latest "Click It Or Ticket" enforcement period runs through June 3.
