Building Fire Near Commerce Township School
COMMERCE TWP. (WWJ) - Crews battled a fire, Wednesday, near a school in Commerce Township.
The fire broke out early in the afternoon at a storage facility on Duck Lake Road, just south of Commerce, across the street from Country Oaks Elementary School.
Huron Valley Schools spokesperson Kim Root said officials decided the school did not need to be evacuated.
"The police and fire were on scene. So, we just did an assessment of whether or not ... we would be affected by that fire, and there is no impact," Root told WWJ Newsradio 950.
She said the fire has been contained but officials were keeping the students inside the school as a precaution.
No injuries have been reported.
