Former Champ Olin Browne Discusses Upcoming U.S. Senior Golf Open
DETROIT (97.1 The Ticket) After a long drought, pro golf is back in metro Detroit with the U.S. Senior Open set for July 12-15 at Indianwood Golf & Country Club in Lake Orion.
2011 winner Olin Browne, Detroit Lions Coach Jim Schwartz and Lions QB Matthew Stafford appeared at the press conference to answer questions from the press.
Indianwood has spent more than two years getting the course in tip-top shape to host the best of the best in the sport -- and it's a fitting locale since Indianwood has hosted some premier golf events in the past, including the 1930 Western Open, and the 1989 and 1994 U.S. Women's Open.
The course now boasts a new driving range, practice area, and bunkers.
Looks like it's already paid off: The United States Golf Association (USGA) announced last week that 2,479 golfers had entered to play the 2012 U.S. Senior Open, with 11 past champions among the 75 players who were exempted into the field.
