Monroe Man Kills Self In Ex-Wife's Workplace

MONROE (WWJ) - A 49-year-old Monroe County man is dead after police say he walked into his ex-wife's workplace and shot himself.

Monroe Police Sgt. Richard Ohanesian said they got a call Wednesday afternoon saying a man, armed with a gun, entered the Greenpath Debt Solutions building on Monroe Street.

Ohanesian said the shooting happened very quickly.

"We had an officer within several blocks and the suspect had already shot himself prior to the officers even arriving on scene," Ohanesian told WWJ Newsradio 950. "When police officers arrived on scene they did locate the subject with the gun who had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head."

No one was injured. Ohanesian said the suspect did not threaten anyone.

No names have been released.
