DETROIT (WWJ) – A man with a stake in one of Detroit’s three casinos is talking about the prospect of more competition for your gaming dollars.

Backers of the petition drive want up to eight new casinos in Michigan, including a fourth one here in Detroit. Marvin Beatty is with Greektown Casino which is putting money up to defeat it.

“They’re trying to convince people that there are 16-thousand jobs that come along with these casinos, but that’s just an absolute misrepresentation,” says Beatty.

But is his position self-serving?

Beatty says, “People can say it’s self-serving but we have 25 casinos in the state of Michigan. The state of Michigan, the people of Michigan are being served. So not only are we being self-serving, but the citizens are being served. It’s not like it’s an under-served market.”
