Teen Arrested For Calling In Graduation Day Bomb Threat

YPSILANTI (WWJ) - A Washtenaw County basketball star has been arrested for calling in a bomb threat before Ypsilanti High School's graduation ceremony.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department said a school secretary received two phone calls from the same person who said a bomb that was going to go off at Eastern Michigan University's Convocation Center at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

Investigators used phone and school records to pinpoint 18-year old Tristan Simmons of Inkster as the as the alleged caller. He was arrested on the charge of filing a false report or  bomb threat, which is a felony.

Simmons, voted the county's player of the year,  was released on bond pending his next court appearance.

He faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
